Supporting Educators Working Toward Social Justice in our Educational Systems, A FREE Webinar

January 16th, 2024, 10:00 AM US Pacific, 1:00 PM US Eastern, 6:00 PM UK

FREE

We know there’s a lot of pressure to put social and emotional learning high on the agenda in preschools.  Very often, educators give, give, and give more. And in the advent of SEL, the pressure to support children’s emotional needs can be completely overwhelming. It’s becoming clear that when teachers can tap into students’ emotions, they win back attention and, with consistent connecting strategies, engagement.

What is less well-known is that educators need space and support to process their emotions too.  The work of managing behaviors in a preschool classroom and modeling SEL responses is emotional and taxing.

But educators are rarely encouraged or supported enough to be able to stop to ask why they might be angry or upset by a child’s behavior, yet it is a crucial step in managing stress. And even if they have had training in self-awareness or self-reflection it can be difficult to accomplish in a busy classroom.

Hand in Hand’s self-reflective tool is a simple one and surprisingly effective in shielding educators against stress, and in helping them process emotions so that they can model and teach those skills to students consistently without becoming overwhelmed or burnt out.

We welcome you to join us for a live call, Supporting Educators Working Toward Social Justice in our Educational Systems to hear more about this practice.

During the call, you will hear how oppression affects each of us, and how we can help each other heal from the effects of systemic inequities and work toward individual and collective well-being, equity, and social justice.

You’ll also hear how to use Listening Partnerships as a self-reflective practice and take part in an exercise to demonstrate the practice.

We hope you will feel hopeful and inspired about building this nourishing culture of support.

We know this timing is tricky for many educators so a recording will be available if you can’t make it live!  Maybe you can organize your own little watch party with a colleague or two!
