Blake Adams lives in Seattle, USA, with his wife and school-aged daughter. Some of Blake’s favorite family activities are sword fighting with pool noodles, eating ice cream, and trying to float everyone (including the dog) on a paddleboard. His “secret name” is Marshmallow Head, so of course all the neighborhood kids greet him that way.

Blake came to Hand in Hand when his daughter was an infant, listening to Hand in Hand’s New Parent Podcasts in the middle of the night to make it through those hard hours. He recalls, “I was unsuccessful in trying to soothe my crying baby, and I felt so inadequate and overwhelmed as a new parent. Those Hand in Hand podcasts offered me a fresh perspective on my daughter’s tears along with some simple suggestions that forever changed the way I think about children and my significance as a father.”

Formerly a high school choir teacher, Blake spent several years as a stay at home dad before turning his attention toward a new career aimed at building support for parents and children. Blake became a Certified Instructor with Hand in Hand in 2019 and continues to facilitate classes, support groups, and events for parents around the world. In early 2021, he earned his associate license as a child and family therapist (LMFTA) and launched Blake Adams Counseling & Consulting PLLC to provide play-based psychotherapy to young children and support to parents. While in graduate school, Blake worked as an intern therapist at a community mental health agency where he successfully integrated the Hand in Hand Listening Tools to help families with young children recover from trauma. Most recently, Blake joined the faculty of North Seattle College as a parent educator in their cooperative preschool system. Blake’s favorite thing about working with families is seeing how much warmth, playfulness, and flexibility come shining through when parents get the support they deserve.

Blake believes parents are the most powerful force in shaping the future of humanity and therefore deserve mountains of appreciation and support. Blake is passionate about ensuring that all parents have what they need to feel successful as they love, nurture, and guide their children to adulthood. His mission is to lift up young people by putting good supports underneath the adults who care for them.
